Medicare SELECT Plans

Friday, July 01, 2005

Medicare SELECT Insurance Plans are available in many states.   Although Medicare SELECT Insurance Plans can be in the form of any of the 11 standardized insurance plans, they are usually a Plan F SELECT.

What differentiates SELECT insurance plans from Standard plans is SELECT plans have a list of specific hospitals that one can use (emergencies are generally exceptions) and get complete insurance benefits.   When purchasing a SELECT insurance plan a person needs to consider the list of hospitals and also consider if one's current doctors use those hospitals.

Because of the restrictions that apply to these types of policies, Medicare recipients can usually purchase them at a lower price.
