Medicare Supplement Insurance Plan J
Sunday, July 01, 2007
Plan J is no longer offered as a Medicare supplement. Plan J did have RX coverage included but when Medicare Part D became available, insurance companies could no longer include RX coverage on these plans because the Part D coverage was superior.
Starting in 2005, Plan J no longer offered RX coverage. Until June 1, 2010, Plan J was sold without RX coverage and had basically the same benefits as Plan F with the addition of Preventative Care and At-Home Recovery.
As of June 1, 2010, Plan J cannot be sold, but if you have a Plan J you can keep it because your policy is grandfathered. Plan F is now the plan offering the closest coverage to what Plan J did offer.
